Sheets of paper steeped in benzoin resin from the styrax tree, torn off and burned without flame to scent a room. Santa Maria Novella has made them since the Florentine pharmacy's apothecary years, continuing a medicinal paper tradition documented from the seventeenth century onward. The smallest possible gesture toward making a room smell like somewhere else.
